1995 - After completing my post graduates studies in Japan, I realized the need to improve the available resources and facilities in Sri Lanka.

It was the worst era for the electricity sector in Sri Lanka with 10-15 hours of power cuts. The sector faced 16% distribution losses and 40% of population didn't have access to the national grid.

Birth of ENCO (Pvt) Limited in 1996 - Our first company ENCO qualified for an ESD Project.

I engaged in off-grid village hydro power projects as a developer. The company completed 15 village hydro projects in Sri Lanka as a World’s best practice.

We were invited by UNIDO to replicate the hydro power experience and knowledge in Rwanda .

The company completed 4 projects under ENCO from UNIDO and 6 projects for the Ministry of Infrastructure of Rwanda.

Birth of Hydro Power International (Pvt) Ltd [HPI] in 1999

HPI was incorporated to handle grid connected projects as the project developers and EPC contractors. HPI is the founder of local mini hydro power in Sri Lanka with our own technology and innovations.

Manufacture of Ceramic Bathware in 2006

We acquired a factory and converted the company into a profit making venture manufacturing ceramic bathware.

By end of 2020, we captured 10% and plan to obtain 20% of the market share in Sri Lanka by 2022 with state of the art European Technology from SACME of Italy.

Manufacture of Ceylon Tea

We started tea manufacturing in 2015 and went on acquiring six factories down south.

Currently we have an annual manufacturing capacity of 4000 tons, employing nearly 1000 workers in partnership with more than 12,000 tea small holders.

Entry into the Pharmaceutical Industry

Akmed Pharma is a venture into pharmaceutical product distribution. Our flagship product under this company is “ Plus Moist” wound healing dressing prescribed by surgeons, vascular surgeons and for burned wounds as a natural product with no chemicals or no wound healing chemical agents.

Introduction of Domestic Sewerage Treatment in 2018

Joining hands with Fukada Japan, we introduced Japanese sewerage kitchen water treatment technology through KUBOTA.

Accelerated natural treatment of sewerage and kitchen water (black and grey water) in a closed compartment is a new technology to Sri Lanka which replace the conventional type of septic tanks.

FUSO Hydro Power Solutions in Japan [FUSO HPS] established in 2019

Our latest partnership is FUSO-HPS. FUSO and Traders Inc of Japan together with E&M solution from ZECO in Italy and HPS Sri Lanka.

The project provides solutions for Japanese small hydro market.

This partnership of ENCO/ HPI/ FUSO manage the Liberian hydro power projects
